BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh today demanded immediate dismissal of the Employment Generation and Training, Governance Reforms and Removal of Grievances minister Aman Arora from the cabinet after a Sangrur court sentenced him and eight others to two years rigorous imprisonment in a family dispute case.
He said the way Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been protecting him even after he has been convicted by a court is not only showing disrespect to the court but also demonstrates how blatantly the AAP government has been defying constitutional bodies.
While expressing surprise that the cabinet minister has not resigned on his own on moral grounds, Chugh wondered what kind of example Bhagwant Mann was setting for the state by shielding a convicted cabinet colleague.
Chugh also expressed serious concern at the failure of the Bhagwant Mann government to respond to the state Governor's query on the matter and said the chief minister must stop defying the calls of the Governor.
Chugh strongly condemned the AAP government for paralyzing governance in Punjab with unconstitutional precedents.
