The Indian Air Force (IAF) is ready to initiate an air combat exercise in the state of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh along with few other NE states. This particular air combat exercise comes into effect as a result of increased tension in the eastern sector of the LAC, which took place as a result of the 32 month long military conflict in eastern Ladakh.

The exercise will be major in terms of scale and will include several platforms, which includes the C-130J 'Super Hercules' aircraft, Chinook heavy lift and Apache attack helicopters among others.

The headquarters of EAC is located in Shillong, and the task will begin from 1st of February to 5th of February. The exercise will almost surround all eastern sector assets, which includes the Rafale and Sukhoi-30 MKI fighters flying from air bases including Hasimara, Tezpur and Chabua.

In September 2022, India took part in a major air combat known as Pitch Black 2022. It took place among 17 nations, and conducted in Australia. The drill hosted more than 100 aircrafts along with 2,500 military personnel from 17 nations.

Last month, after the clash between Indian army and Chinese troops at Yangtse in Tawang, the IAF carried out a two day drill in the northeast.
