Mawkyrwat: Local MLA and PHE Minister, Renikton L Tongkhar on 14th December 2022 laid the foundation stone of the 10 KMs Rangmaw-Mawksiar road known as the Jakrem-Ranikor where the work has been completed in the last few months.

The 10 km Rangmaw-Mawksiar road was constructed at the cost of Rs.7 crores under the Central Road Fund (CRF) for the year 2018-19. The villages which are connected through this road include Phlangkynshi Mihngi, Phlangkynshi Sepngi, Dontynrong, Mawksiar, Phlangmawtangdiar, Phlangjaud Lumdewsaw bad Phlangjaud.

Speaking at the meeting, Tongkhar said that immediately after being elected as an MLA he tried to get the road sanction since it is one of the oldest road in the district and the state as a whole. He thanked the MDA government especially the PWD (Roads) for making this dream a reality.

With the Rangmaw-Phlangkynshi road being known as Jakrem-Ranikor road since it was the dream of the people of Phlangkynshi area to connect Mawkyrwat with Ranikor via Phlangkynshi, Tongkhar said that he will try to follow up in the near future and make the dreams of the past leaders a reality.

Meanwhile, Myntri of Mawksiar, Brialtiris Nongbsaw informed that the construction of the Jakrem-Ranikor road via Rangmaw and Phlangkynshi has started since 1963-64 by the government of Assam and therefore become the oldest road being neglected by successive governments.

"Today we are very happy that finally after 58 years we get to see the light of the day. In the last few decades we kept on requesting MLAs after MLAs and governments after governments, but nothing happened. Many times I have thought that I will die without seeing a blacktoping road, but after getting a young and dynamic MLA in Tongkhar things change and our dreams become a reality," Nongbsaw said.
