Tezpur: Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju Friday inspected the Kalia Bhomora II bridge after its completion. Union Minister Rijiju today inspected the bridge as part of his Lok Sabha exile campaign.
Describing the Bhomora Guri Bridge as a vaitel bridge in Assam, Union Minister Rijiju said the bridge will play an important role for the army in facilitating communication to the northern border. He said the bridge will provide a lot of relief to the daily movement of the Indian Army and other security departments. The bridge was built for further development due to heavy traffic and long-term challenges.
The inter-inland waterways connectivity of the Mahabahu Brahmaputra to Bangladesh along with the North Eastern states is also moving in a major positive direction.
The minister was kind of emotional when he arrived after the completion of the bridge. He recalled traveling from Arunachal Pradesh to Nagaon and southern Assam via Tezpur in the 1970s and 1980s.
He said the bridge will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi next month along with the Kaliya Bhomora Bridge on the mighty Brahmaputra River in the eastern part of Sonitpur district.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Arunachal Pradesh next month to inaugurate the already completed airport and two hydraulic projects in Itanagar.
The bridge will be connected to the Chakighat Bridge in Jamugurihat which is yet to be completed by a four-lane road under construction.
