"Speaking at the 'Ambedkar ko Samarprit Modi' thought conclave organized by the Sampla Foundation, founded by former Union Minister Vijay Sampla, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh commemorated the immense legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and praised his unparalleled contributions to Indian society. Chugh stated, 'Dr. Ambedkar not only drafted the Constitution but also laid the foundation for a society based on justice, equality, and fraternity. His life and work continue to inspire us today.'
Chugh highlighted a historical period of disregard towards Dr. Ambedkar, 'There was a time when Nehru went to great lengths to demean Dr. Ambedkar and defeat him in elections. Subsequently, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi openly opposed reservations in Parliament, and his son Rahul Gandhi has spoken about abolishing reservations in India from abroad. The Nehru-Gandhi family across four generations did not spare any effort to humiliate Dr. Ambedkar, even denying him the Bharat Ratna, which he was only awarded in 1990 when a non-Congress government supported by the BJP came to power.'
Chugh further stated, 'The establishment of Panchteerth, developing his birthplace, education site, place of conversion, and the site of his Mahaparinirvan, is one of our government's key initiatives. Additionally, constructing the Dr. Ambedkar International Center is a significant step towards spreading his ideologies and teachings.'
'When Congress was in power, Dr. Ambedkar was not given the recognition he deserved. He was not adequately positioned in government policies and his contributions were underestimated. However, today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have launched several initiatives in his honor. Besides the Panchteerth, his statue has been installed in Parliament, and his writings and speeches have been digitized and made accessible to the public.'
'Our government has also named the BHIM app after Dr. Ambedkar and implemented policies to advance the values and principles he set forth. In doing so, we are not only preserving his legacy but also realizing his dreams,' concluded Chugh."
