Mamata Banerjee Has Crossed All Limits of Brutality and Dictatorship; Why Are All Parties, Including Congress, Silent?: Chugh

Bharatiya Janata Party's National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, speaking to the media about the incident in Bengal, criticized Mamata Banerjee's government in West Bengal, stating that all limits of brutality have been crossed. He emphasized that the dignity of a daughter has been shattered, her parents are left helpless, yet Mamata Banerjee remains silent. The government's complete insensitivity toward the victim's family is not only disgraceful but also a stain on humanity.

Chugh condemned Mamata Banerjee’s statement given today, where the Chief Minister made shocking and provocative remarks during her address to the TMC's Student Wing in Kolkata, openly endorsing revenge politics and inciting violence. Her declaration, "I never sought revenge, but now, do what needs to be done," is a blatant call for unrest. Her further comments, threatening that if Bengal burns, neighbouring states and even Delhi will burn, are deeply irresponsible and anti-national.

He asserted that these statements are unbecoming of someone holding a constitutional position and represent an attempt to sow hatred and incite violence. Such discourse endangers the safety and security of citizens and undermines the integrity of the state. Chugh demanded that Mamata Banerjee resign immediately for betraying her duty to promote peace and uphold the rule of law.

Chugh further stated that the violence and repression on the streets of West Bengal by Mamata Banerjee's government and police against doctors, youth, and women are highly condemnable. The brutal crackdown on doctors demanding justice, as well as on Bengal's youth and women, is deplorable. Suppressing the right to peaceful protest by Mamata Banerjee's government is disgraceful and shameful in any civilized society.

Chugh also reflected on West Bengal's rich history, once renowned for producing patriots and freedom fighters who played pivotal roles in India's independence struggle. The state has given the country towering personalities such as Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Swami Vivekananda, and Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. These figures have not only shaped India's cultural and political landscape but also inspired generations. However, the current state of affairs under Mamata Banerjee's rule is in sharp contradiction to the legacy of these great leaders, casting a shadow over the proud history of West Bengal. Chugh blamed Mamata Banerjee for bringing disgrace to the country on the global stage due to her failure in governance, law, and order as Chief Minister.
Chugh demanded  immediate resignation of Mamata Banerjee as a Chief Minister of the state in the interest of West Bengal and our country.

He highlighted that while Mamata Banerjee's government took every possible step to protect the culprits, it simultaneously deployed around 6,000 police personnel to suppress the Nabanna campaign when the youth of the country tried to raise their voices against injustice. Furthermore, the Howrah Bridge was sealed to stifle the voices of protestors.

Chugh noted that when the youth and students of the country raised their voices on the streets of Bengal, they were attacked with batons, and water cannons were used to suppress them. However, Mamata Banerjee, as a woman chief minister, has failed to ensure the safety of Bengal’s women. The public is demanding justice but is deeply disappointed with the harsh stance of the administration.

Chugh emphasized that Mamata Banerjee has crossed all limits of dictatorship in Bengal. The brutal killings of BJP workers and the attempts to shield the culprits in the Sandeshkhali and RG Medical College cases are evident. The collusion between the government and administration has raised serious questions about the justice system. Mamata Banerjee's dictatorial attitude is worsening the state’s situation. Efforts to protect wrongdoers in every case are fueling public discontent. As a woman chief minister, Mamata Banerjee has failed to meet the expectations of ensuring women's safety and justice, marking a significant failure of her governance.

Chugh added that thousands of protests are ongoing in Kolkata and across West Bengal against Mamata Banerjee's government, with common people taking to the streets in opposition to her. The Honorable President of India has expressed deep shock over the horrific incident and condemned the disturbing pattern of events that have followed. The President has urged the nation to ensure that women and girls in our country can live without fear and has called upon citizens to prioritize women's safety.
