Tezpur:Three superior officer of Assam police from Darrang district have been suspended today .

 Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today ordered the immediate suspension of Darrang Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajmohan Ray, Additional SP Rupam Phukan and the Dhula Police Station Officer in-charge over allegations the district police top brass mishandled the June 11 case of unnatural death of 13-year-old girl at the Dhula residence of one Krishna Kamal Baruah. The Chief Minister's order came on the backdrop of his visit today to the Dhekiajuli residence of the deceased, who was found hanging by the neck. 

Accompanied by Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, the Chief Minister interacted with the relatives of the deceased and inquired about the allegations they had labelled against Darrang police administration. It has been alleged that the police displayed extreme dereliction of duty in collecting of photographic and videographic evidence of the incident. It has been further alleged that the Dhula Police Station Officer in-charge had put pressure on the family members of the deceased to not file a written complaint on the unnatural death.

Considering the gravity of the above allegations, the Chief Minister asked the DGP to constitute a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) for thorough investigation into the incident. Two of the three members of the SIT shall be females, as per the Chief Minister's order. 

The Chief Minister also issued instructions to concerned officials to get a house constructed for the family of the deceased under a government scheme. He also ordered the Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner to take necessary measures for inclusion of the family of the deceased under the Orunodoi scheme.

 

The SIT was announced to probe the death of Adivasi girl Aarti Turi.The police had made mistakes in the investigation. 

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited at the residence of a 13-year-old girl named Aarti Turir at the residence of a 13-year-old girl named Arati Turir this afternoon who was died at Darrang in June last . Three months ago, 13-year-old girl Aarti Turi, who worked as a weaver in Dhula, Darrang district, had already died.

 

After talking to the family in this regard separately, the Chief Minister has made a statement to the reporters that the Darrang Police has been negligent in the mysterious death. Initially, they did not want to take a case. Later the case was registered and the culprits were arrested but in its investigation, the Darrang police has committed errors. The accused was not taken into custody. MP Pallab Lochan Das and Director General of Police Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta Also The Chief Minister advocated the family that the government would take prompt action and give justice in this regard. Aarti Turi's mother and sister-in-law expressed satisfaction at assuring the family that the Chief Minister would reach their residence to take stock of their condition and punish the culprits.
