SRIKONA BATTALION OF ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATION MEET

Srikona Battalion of Assam Rifles under aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles(East) conducted a Civil Society Organisation Meet at COB Nungba, Noney district. The event was aimed at boosting friendship, synergy and increasing security consciousness in area by people's participation. Suggestions and ideas on how to improve security in area for the local populace were also sought from the attendees. Deputy Inspector General, Agartala Sector Assam Rifles and Commandant, Srikona Battalion along with a total of 16 leaders from various Civil Society Organizations including leaders from Nungba Youth Organisation, Nungba Sub Division Joint Action Committee, Nungba Women Society, Nungba Area Village authority, Rongmai Naga Council Manipur, Rongmai Naga Students Organisation, took part in the meet.

Commandant, Srikona Battalion during his address welcomed and thanked all the Civil Society Organisation leaders for their role in transformation of society as a whole. He also reiterated that Civil society organizations occupy an important position in the development dialogue as it provides opportunities to bring communities together for collective action, mobilizing society to articulate demands and voice concerns at local, regional and national level.

Deputy Inspector General, Agartala Sector Assam Rifles along with commandant discussed various issues related to security, education, job opportunities, health, social awareness and government schemes with the CSO leaders. He also focused on future developments coming up in Rongmai regions. The Civil Society Organisation leaders also informed him about aid received from the Battalion through various welfare projects undertaken.

The Deputy Inspector General highlighted the present security scenario and coordination aspects with Security Forces and leaders along with method of exchange of information regarding activities of anti social elements in the area to thwart their aim to bring peace and prosperity in the area. He also opined that it is duty of both security forces and locals to ensure local safety and pave way for speedy development of the region. The leaders highly appreciated the efforts of Srikona Battalion and assured their continuing support and commitment in all future aspects.
