Amritpal Singh, the leader of Waris Punjab De, was detained on April 23 in the Punjabi village of Rode, which is part of the Moga district. Amritpal, a pro-Khalistan adherent, eluded capture for almost 35 days. Following the detention of Amritpal Singh, his father Tarsem Singh has made a big statement. In an interview he mentioned that his son was only fighting against the drugs and we should carry on his mission forward.

As per Amritpal’ father "We learned via television that he had turned himself in to the police. Because of him, people were being harassed, and we wanted the same thing. The entire community should fight this case, and we will. He was working to protect the people from the drug threat.” His mother Balvinder Kaur said that she saw all the incidents happening on Tv and was proud of what his son did, she further mentioned that her son surrendered like a Lion and that the whole community will fight the legal battle to protect and meet him.
