Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's conviction in a 2019 defamation case has triggered sharp reactions from the Opposition camp, with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra leading the charge as she accused the BJP-led Centre of “suppressing his voice” by hook or by crook.

Taking to Twitter, Priyanka Gandhi said, “The entirety of the scared Centre’s machinery is trying to suppress the voice of @RahulGandhi by hook or by crook. My brother has never been afraid, nor will he ever be. [He] has lived speaking the truth,

will continue to speak the truth. Will continue to raise the voice of the people of the country. The power of truth and the love of crores of countrymen are with him.”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, whose Aam Aadmi Party is often at odds with the Congress, lent his support to Rahul Gandhi. The AAP supremo claimed a "conspiracy" was afoot to finish the Opposition.
