BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh today demanded the AAP government in Punjab to restore the budget of Punjabi University to salvage the financial position of the university.
He said slashing of annual budget from Rs 360 to Rs 140 crores indicated that the state government was not serious in promoting higher education.
The education policy of the AAP government has been a sham as many teachers in the Punjabi University have been working without salary and a large number of research projects have been stopped.
The University has been already reeling under heavy debt and in this situation cutting the budget would be a criminal joke with the teaching community.
Chugh demanded that the state Governor, as Chancellor of the University, should intervene to get healthy budget for the university.
