Waheeda Rehman recounted how Guru Dutt was warned that he was miscasting her in the movie Pyaasa when speaking with Arbaaz Khan about her early days in the film business. The actress described how Guru was called "bekaar" and compared to a "wooden doll" by someone. She did, however, add that she began receiving numerous film offers once her picture was printed in a newspaper while she was presenting an award.

According to Waheeda Rehman, her father was concerned about her.

In terms of her private life, Waheeda Rehman wed Shashi Rekhi in April 1974. Sohail Rekhi and Kashvi Rekhi, the couple's two children, were born into the world.
