Mawkyrwat MLA and PHE Minister, Renikton L Tongkhar made the announcement while laying the foundation stone of the completed 10 KMs Rangmaw-Mawksiar road located at Mawksiar village, 18 kms from Mawkyrwat. 

Mr Tongkhar said that he wanted the Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma to visit Mawkyrwat and inaugurate the Hospital, but due to a tight schedule the Chief Minister could not come. However, the Chief Minister has authorised Tongkhar as Minister along with the District Administration to inaugurate the Hospital.

Tongkhar also expressed happiness to finally be able to set the date for the inauguration of the Civil Hospital as it is the dream of the people of Mawkyrwat Constituency in particular and South West Khasi Hills District, in general, to see that the hospital is functioning.

Others who were present include the Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District, C. Kharkongngor, EE PWD (Roads) Mawkyrwat Division DM Pyngrope.
