The 23rd foundation day of the Dhakuakhana Ghilamara Press Club was celebrated throughout the day on Monday. The national flag was hoisted at the permanent office of the Press Club at Ghilamara Milan Nagar in the morning in the presence of all journalists. The opening ceremony of the foundation day was presided over by the President of the Club Atul Baruah. The foundation day meeting was inaugurated by the Vice President of Lakhimpur District Journalists Association Amrit Pawan Bora. The meeting was attended by prominent citizens Dr. Keshab Gogoi, elderly women Tulda Hazarika, Deben Pukan, journalists Arun Chamua, Rajesh Gohain, Damodar Baruah, retired veteran educationist Dandidhar Gohain, entrepreneurial youth Shailen Dutta and Deepak Dutta makes radical statements. The meeting was attended by Dr. Keshab Hazarika, a prominent educationist, who addressed the gathering and described the local journalists as the guardians of conscience of the society. The meeting was attended by youth activist Hiranya Hazarika who said that society wants to refrain from publishing news that could harm the society or have an adverse impact on the formation of the society. Hazarika publicly blamed the social media news portals for this.
The meeting was attended by veteran journalist, writer and social worker Purna Kumar Chinte. The veteran journalist Chinte made a brief speech and urged the younger journalists to devote themselves for the benefit of the society and the community by publishing impartial news without tarnishing the principles, ideals and dignity of journalism. The veteran journalist was recognized with a flower gomocha, samfura and a letter of appreciation and wished him good health and long life.
