Tarun Chugh, National General Secretary of the BJP and Incharge of J&K and Ladakh, has strongly condemned the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab following a series of violent incidents, including a daylight shooting in Batala that left one young man dead.
Referring to the incident in Batala’s Radha Krishna Colony, where two youths opened fire outside a school, Chugh expressed deep concern over the safety of citizens and children. He said, “It is shocking that such incidents are happening in broad daylight, in busy areas like school zones. This blatant display of violence shows a complete failure of the Punjab government in maintaining law and order.”
He further criticized the AAP government, led by CM Bhagwant Mann, stating, "It is unfortunate that such incidents are becoming common on a day-to-day basis under the current administration." Chugh added, "This incident has spread fear and panic in the city. When violence happens in broad daylight, no citizen feels safe." He called for the Chief Minister’s resignation over the repeated failure to maintain law and order, which has forced Punjabis to live in fear and anxiety daily.
Chugh also criticized the Punjab government for allowing gangsters to operate freely in the state. “The lawlessness is evident, with gangsters acting without any fear of consequences. Crimes are happening every day, and even the safety of jails has become questionable, raising serious concerns about the state’s governance. The government has failed to provide even the most basic sense of security to its people,” he said.
Chugh called for immediate and strict action to restore peace and safety in Punjab. "The lack of law enforcement is encouraging criminals. The people of Punjab deserve better, and it is time for the government to stop turning a blind eye to these incidents and ensure the safety and security of its citizens."
