UK Throwball Inauguration and Exhibition match – 06-Apr-2024 at Sutton, London, UK. 

International Throwball Federation (ITF) is happy to announce UK Throwball Inauguration and Exhibition match on: Saturday, 6-Apr-2024 At: Richard Challoner School, Sutton, London, UK

in the presence of ITF officials Dr. T Ramanna (Secretary General ITF), Dr. S Mani (Vice

President, ITF), Dr. Ramu P(Convener-Technical Committee, ITF) and Mrs. Sampoorna

Hegde (Asst. Secretary General, ITF).

We whole heartedly congratulate Mr. Ganapati Bhat, Dr. Zinu Philipose & team who have

taken great effort to organize the same and initiate developing Throwball to the next

level in UK.

The event was hosted by KUK Sports Club, UK and Asian Sports & Cultural Club, Sutton,

Program started with welcome note by Mr. Ganapati Bhat, Mrs. Sampoorna Hegde

spoke about the benefits of throwball and health benefits to all age groups,

a. how it positively impacts the kids for improving brain power, with left & right

brain usage while playing, improve academic scoring & cognitive skills.

b. how it helps elders for improving blood circulation to all the organs and maintain

health through acupressure

c. how it helps patients through acupressure and ability to play even at home,

indoor or outdoors easily.

d. how it helps senior citizens to maintain health

e. how it helps special children, specially abled people, transgenders, etc.

Dr. T Ramanna spoke about the history of throwball and importance of introducing

throwball to small children, developing at grassroot level for longer sustenance of the

game. Also suggested to spread the game awareness across cities in the UK.

Exhibition match was played by 2 teams Sutton Sparklers & Sutton Stars. Both the teams

played really well, won each set, taking the match to deciding set. It was finally won by

Sutton Stars lead by Chinmayi an experienced player.

Chief Referee Dr. Zinu Philipose did a wonderful job of conducting the matches in a

professional manner.

Dr. Ramu P explained the ITF rules and given tips for players that can help them.

There was prize distribution, awarding the organizers, ITF officials, referees and photo

Dr. Mani S delivered the Vote of thanks to hosting team, wished them a successful

journey to spread the game across UK.

Overall, it was a great beginning for Throwball as a competitive sport in the United

Kingdom and looking forward for great success!!!
