Virat Kohli now the highest run-scorer in the history of T20 cricket leaving behind Mahela Jayawardhane's 1016 runs with his 16th run in the match against Bangladesh, reaching his 1017-run mark.

In what has come as a red letter day in Indian cricket, ace cricketer Virat Kohli has set another milestone to emerge as the highest run scorer in the history of the T20 Men's Cricket World Cup, when he scored his 16th run in the T20 match against Bangladesh in the ongoing T20 World Cup Tournament in Australia's Adelaide. The earlier record was held by Sri Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardhane with 1016 runs in 31 innings set in 2014. With his 16th run in the match against Bangladesh, King Kohli is now at the top spot with 1017 runs in his 23rd innings in T20 World Cups. It may be mentioned here that earlier in the 2016 T20 World Cup, Kohli settled at the second spot after India returned home in the semi-final stage.
