The ProBono Scheme of Department of Justice, Government of India, a project awarded to Apex Professional University (APU), Pasighat was inaugurated by Ms. Sneha Sharma, Program Manager, Department of Justice, GoI today at the education and liberal arts Block of the APU.

The function was presided over by Kento Rina, Nari MLA & Advisor to Minister (Education) as Guest of Honour, who therein also inaugurated the newly constructed Moot Court building.
The welcome address of the Inaugural Session was delivered by Mr. Ghana Saikia, Nodal Officer, ProBono Club & Lecturer - Faculty of Law & Forensic Sciences while Justice R.M. Chhaya, Hon’ble Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court had kindly consented to send a message of ‘Appreciation for taking up the ProBono Project’, which was presented by Priyangshu Pratim Goswami, Lecturer, faculty of Law & Forensic Sciences.
Ms. Sneha Sharma, Program Manager, Department of Justice, Government of India inaugurated the ProBono Scheme virtually wherein she mentioned the speech of Hon Prime Minister of India stating the importance of ProBono Scheme in the country as well as initiated the students and faculty regarding the core values of legal profession and the need of providing legal service to the underprivileged, downtrodden and poor segments of the society without charging legal fee.
In the Presidential Address of MLA Rina he inspired the budding advocates to stick to the values of the legal profession and get recognized as good human beings. He recalled the days where the doors of the houses of Arunachal Pradesh could be left out with no locks and keys but we have reached the state of unsecured living which points towards the need and importance of strong and authentic legal practices in the state.
Acharya Dhanwant Singh, Chancellor, APU, honoured the MLA Rina by presenting him the memento as a mark of respect and regards. Prof. P. Ajith Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, APU pointed out the various schemes like STI Hub, ProBono, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, which the University is getting into.
These projects are aiming at reaching out to the most underprivileged people of Arunachal Pradesh and to uplift the status of living style and method of how their problems can be addressed and taken up to the governmental authorities. Among others, Dr. Jyotsna Raj, Head - Faculty of Law & Forensic Sciences also spoke.
