Environment and Forest Minister cum Guardian Minister of Darrang Chandra Mohan Patowary today attended a series of development programmes in Darrang. 

The Minister laid the foundation stone of Mangaldai Model Women's College at Dhula under Mangaldai LAC. The college is one of the 9 Women's colleges being set up by the State Government in the state. 

Speaking at the programme, Minister Patowary said that Assam Government, under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, is endeavouring to promote female education in the minority dominated areas of state for ensuring women empowerment. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s motto of ‘sabka sath, sabka vikash, sabka viswas, sabka prayash’, the State Government is striving for equal development of all sections of the society and setting up model Women's colleges are a step in that direction, he said. 

He informed that Rs 24 crore each has been allocated for construction of 9 Women's colleges in the state and once completed, these colleges would be to able provide quality higher education to girl students and ensure enabling environment for the girls in minority areas. 

Afterwards, the Minister attended the inauguration programme of the office of the newly notified Pub Mangaldai Revenue Circle at Dhula which was inaugurated by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan. Speaking at the inauguration programme, Minister Patowary expressed hope that the creation of the new revenue circle would expedite development of Shyamabari, Rangamati and Chapai mouzas while facilitating swift delivery of land related services. 

Earlier, starting the day long activities, Patowary visited Dhula High School under Mangaldai LAC and interacted with the teachers and students while also taking stock of its facilities. The Minister appreciated the role played by the school in providing quality education to more than 2000 students of a large area enrolled there. 

Later the Minister also inaugurated the RCC Bridge near Islampur over the Mangaldai river connecting Mangaldai Patharighat & Khoirabari. 

Mangaldai MP Dilip Saikia, MLA Mangaldai Basanta Das, Chairman of AFDC Gurujyoti Das, Mazibur Rahman, MLA Dalgaon and Dr Paramananda Rajbonshi ,MLA Sipajhar also accompanied the Minister during the visit.

After the programmes, Guardian Minister Patowary chaired the meeting of District Level Advisory cum Monitoring Committee at Darrang DC office conference hall for reviewing the schemes under both Tied & Untied funds, approved in the block level meeting for the year 2020-21 & 2021-22 along with those schemes to be implemented by Zilla Parishad.
