Shillong: North Eastern Hill University has signed 9 MoUs and exchange agreements, with various organisations and institutes. It is expected that these collaborations will produce new synergies and add academic value, both for NEHU and other collaborating institutions in the years to come. Such collaboration and cooperation between NEHU and fellow organizations, is going to open up avenues, where we move step by step, strength by strength towards achieving excellence.
The university signed the MoU with CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow with the main focus on scientific exchanges in the areas of Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Pharmacology, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Agricultural Sciences, Plant Conservation and Agro- technologies. The CSIR-Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow involves collaboration mainly in the domains of Food, Drug, Chemical, Environmental, Computational and Regulatory Toxicology together with Health Toxicology Assessments. The G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar focuses on collaborative programs of cutting-edge research, academic exchanges and technical & skill support, in Agriculture and allied disciplines.
While with Sawaiom Fresh, Shillong an MoU was also signed to establish a Start-Up partnership between the two partners, in terms of the collaborative program and other entrepreneurship activities, involving cooperation and skilled livelihood practical training courses, for students aspiring to be entrepreneurs. With TURBIT, Shillong, NEHU, through its Design and Innovation Centre, is entering into this Mot to share and demonstrate technologies and innovations for the socio-economic benefit for the people of North East India.
The university also signed MoU with National Cooperative Development Cooperation (NCDC), New Delhi focussing on issues and areas related to the development of cooperatives, agriculture and allied sectors, and to the holistic approach to sustainable development. Skilling of students by providing internship opportunities under SAHAKAR MITRA- The NCDC Scheme on Internship Program (SIP). JDBP Agri International Pvt. Ltd. (Meerut) to promote academic and research activities in the common areas of interest, with emphasis on 'Germplasm identification, evaluation, conservation and utilization. It will also collaborate on the commercialization, licensing, marketing and deliberation of raw & processed products in PPP model. Among other Memorandum of Understanding signed today was the Regional Centre for Biotechnology, DBT, Faridabad with a focus on providing a medium for innovative researchers, to accelerate innovations in the field of Biotechnology, and generate deliverables, addressing the issues in public health, agriculture and skill development. This collaboration will serve as a platform for cross-learning, sharing knowledge, best practices on innovation and start-up ecosystem development among students. Lastly, with the Golden Signatures Research and Consulting, Delhi: focuses on nurturing the research, innovation and creativity among students, faculties and staff and taking them one step further to larger connectivity at the global level from local spheres.
