Imphal: District Administration, Kakching in collaboration with District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Kakching today launched Rashtriya Poshan Maah, 2022 at DC Office Complex, Kakching. Additional Deputy Commissioner Shri A. Adahrii Maheo launched the Rashtriya Poshan Maah which was followed by a Poshan rally participated by Anganwadi workers & helpers, ANM, ASHAs and others in the surrounding area of DC office. Basically, the Poshan rally was organized to raise awareness on the importance of nutrition to infants, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers. As part of today’s programme, Pledge for Poshan was administered by ADM while Indigenous Toys were also put on display/exhibition.

It may be mentioned that Kakching District is celebrating POSHAN MAAH during September 2022 with activities around the key themes of Mahila & Swasthya, Bacha & Shiksha – Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi, Gender Sensitive Water Conservation and Management & Traditional Foods for Women and Children in Tribal Areas.

For organizing various programmes and activities in the District, the District Programme Officer (ICDS), Kakcting was the Nodal Officer to co-ordinate with various line Departments for successful conduct of the celebration of POSHAN Maah.

Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Poshan Maah programme was also launched today at Kamjong district. Organised by the ICDS Cell, Social Welfare of Kamjong, the launching program was held at the Community Hall of Riha Village under Phungyar sub-division. This program is being conducted as a part of the Poshan Abhiyan-- PM’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment.

The launching program was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Shri Rangnamei Rang Peter (IAS) as the chief guest, CMO Dr Lucy Duidang and ZEO Shri L Nabakumar as the guests of honour, and Shri Wungang Mahung, Headman of Riha village as the functional president.

Giving his speech, Shri Rangnamei appreciated the initiative of the Narendra Modi-led government for carrying out this massive program all over the country to focus on the health and nutrition of children, women and adolescent girls. He appealed to all to observe this program dutifully and to perform the activities included under Poshan Maah properly. He also urged the officials concerned and the Anganwadi workers/helpers to ensure maximum reach of the benefits of this program.

CMO Dr Lucy gave a detailed speech on nutrition among children (0-6years), pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls. A rally was also held as a part of the program participated by the dignitaries and many women.
